Best Appointed Wayfinding Consultant for CSL Global Headquarters, Melbourne
Global biotechnology leader CSL is currently building world-class laboratories and offices to house the company’s global corporate headquarters in the heart of the Parkville biomedical precinct.
Located at 645 Elizabeth Street on the northern edge of Melbourne’s CBD, the 16-storey flagship building represents an important investment in the Australian biotech ecosystem.
The new facility will foster and support collaborations between academic biomedical research and industry, creating important linkages in the ‘benchtop to bedside’ translation of new medicines for unmet medical needs.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Best were successfully appointed as lead placemaking and wayfinding consultant for this landmark project, and have worked closely with all project stakeholders to ensure the project’s vision was brought to life in driving a more collaborative branded engagement between people and place.
This project has been delivered nearly entirely via video conferencing, with Best successfully driving and developing our design concept that centres around ‘revealing and exploring’ - key themes that are empathetic to the vital work that CSL contributes to the world we know today.
Best has delivered a solution that not only reflects the CSL brand personality and value structures, but intuitively complements the base build architecture. In striking the right balance between functionality and aesthetic, the endorsed design reflects and celebrates CSL’s global history for the past 100 Years, with a firm focus on encapsulating the new headquarters vision of breaking ground in biomedical research for the future.
With the base building currently underway, Best looks forward to working with CSL, Cox and PROBUILD as the project enters the integrated fitout stages.
